Report# 1
Selecting School
By Wan-Ju, Li (Judy Li)

I did one year exchange study in San Antonio, Texas while I was studying my
bachelor degree; this exchange study experience enhanced my international
views and helped me building up my independence. Hence, this became one
of the main reasons that I chose NCCU IMBA program instead of other MBA
programs in Taiwan; not only because NCCU is one of top universities in
Taiwan, but also NCCU is well-known for its exchange program with many top
leading universities in the world.

Choosing the school for my exchange study was not an easy task because all
the schools corporate with NCCU are top-ranked in the world. My initial idea
was that I will not study any schools which locate in USA and Canada;
because my previous exchange study experience in USA, working
experiences in USA and Canada. Also, I was working 8 years at a trading
company for their North American sales department. Due to these reasons, I
am very familiar with North American cultures, and I thought I shall try
something different.

I narrowed down my school choices to be only in Europe region because I
thought studying in Europe might be a plus credit for me to apply for any
companies need a sales person with international experiences in the future.
With this idea in mind, I selected "Rotterdam school of management, Erasmus
University" because the school has a great reputation for it's study, the
Netherlands has a central location which will allow me to travel easily to other
European countries, also most of Dutch people speak English well which is
very important to me; because I love communication and I would dislike if I
study somewhere which I am unable to communicate with locals.
When selecting schools, you shall ask yourself what criteria would be more
important to yourself? School ranking? Location? Cultures? Weather? I think
Taiwanese students in general choose schools based on the ranking. One
suggestion for your decision making, please check with students whom
previously exchanged to the school you are interested; they will be able to give
you better details of the school and life.
